CARDIFF 28TH SEPTEMBER 2014

Cardiff Survival is nearly here! The Event is almost sold out and we have released some extra space to cope with demand. So now is the time to act if you want a place! 2014 will again see the MH Survival Series travel to cities in Wales, England and Scotland for the Tri-Nations Series before we unleash 2 “finales” in Manchester and London. National pride is at stake as we invite Survivors from across the Land to front up to the challenge. The Welsh Capital won the 2012 and the 2013 Tri-Nation series and is the host location for the first event of this year’s Tri-Nations Series. So get down to Cardiff on 28th September 2014 and prepare to defend your National pride!

EVENT LOCATION

The event village for the 2014 event will be located once again at the spectacular Roald Dahl Plas in the “Oval Basin” events arena, next to the gleaming Wales Millennium Centre and the Welsh Assembly, right on the waterfront of Cardiff Bay. The action starts and finishes here, with a spectacular charge over the Hay Bale Wall starting the race and a gruelling climb over the MH Wall of Fame on the menu for when you return, to the delight of the huge crowd that gathers here.

2014 will see a totally new course, concentrated in and around the Bay area. It makes for a sensationally urban outing; and it may be a little “watery” too with a brand new activity location at the Cardiff International White Water Centre. In previous years, we have varied the course in advance of the event due to environmental factors in Cardiff Bay, but whatever the weather, do not expect to stay totally dry for this one – there’s more than one wet episode guaranteed. Pre-event or post, our base in the Oval Basin is also home to the many bars, shops and restaurants. With the Mermaid Quay development next door to us, there is a real buzz around our event hub.

Please Note: Cardiff County Hall Car Park will be open from 8.30 am on the 28th,  for the event with an all day charge of only £3.

CARDIFF COURSE

For 2014 we are giving the route a massive overhaul. Starting and finishing as always at Roald Dahl Plas in Cardiff Bay, the route still features some of your favourite locations from the old course. New for 2014, you will be heading over the bridge to the Cardiff International White Water Centre where you will get a serious soaking, plus new obstacle action in Grangemoor Park before returning for favourites at the Barrage and the Mermaid Quay area. Whatever happens, this one is guaranteed to wet your pants. The new course promises to hurl you over, under and through obstacles at every turn. Get ready for an epic test of Survival Spirit!

BEER TENT

All this Survivin’ is thirsty work. We will be building our trade-mark brilliant beer tent at the event site once more. We will be serving up ice-cold beer and real ales and the beer tent will be open until you are all safely home. If 2013’s innings is anything to go by, we’ll be needing to talk to the nice man at the Brewery to set aside a good few barrels, as you decimated the beer in 2013! Expect Rat Race Blonde ales and ice-cold lager on draught as minimum.

GETTING THERE

ROAD
Cardiff is on the M4 and a wee hop, skip and a jump across the Severn bridges for those travelling from Southern England. For those coming from the north, the M50 can bring you pretty quickly towards Cardiff via the Wye valley from Brum and beyond.

 RAIL
There is a small station at Cardiff Bay, right next to the event village which has connections from Cardiff Central. National rail sees direct trains run between London Paddington and Cardiff on the Great Western mainline. It takes around 2 hours from London. Connections between Cardiff and the South West of England are also strong via Bristol. To the north, cross country routes take you to and from the Midlands and beyond with ease. Please check timetables for further details

AIR
Cardiff International airport is a 45 minute train or bus ride away from the city centre.

 ACCOMMODATION
There is plenty to choose from in Cardiff. From super stylish options in the city centre, to budget accommodation and magnificent out-of-town country house hotels, there is a good deal of choice.
